*Verse for the day (Luke 21:2)*
[2]And he saw also a *certain poor widow* casting in thither two mites.
*Explanation*
*Certain* - implies she wasn’t popular or of any significant status in the society.
*Poor* - implies that she was not only of low financial status but very impoverished. Hence, she was labeled poor.
*Widow* - her husband was dead, she was emotionally, psychologically and socially at disadvantage.
*Three things to remember.*
1. The woman was noticed by God despite her low social status (A CERTAIN), low financial status (POOR),and deep emotionally state( WIDOW).
*Application*
God observes everyone irrespective of their status or position. He beholds the rich and the poor, the good and the evil, the old and the young.(Proverbs 15:3).
Therefore, watch your actions because God is watching. Live to please God and not men. Avoid Eye-service.
2. She didn’t use her disadvantages as an excuse not to give.
*Application*
What’s your excuse? You can always give something irrespective of your financial state or status.
3. She gave all (she gave sacrificially- Luke 21:4)
*Application*
Learn to give sacrificially. Give when it’s convenient and give when it’s not convenient.
Remember, life is a cycle you may also need help from someone at the point of their inconveniency.
Prayers.
*Lord help me to stop making excuses when it comes to giving.
*Lord help me to be a cheerful giver.
